About Tendinitis

Tendinitis (more accurately tendinopathy in chronic cases) is overuse-related injury and degeneration of a tendon, commonly involving the shoulder rotator cuff, elbow (lateral or medial epicondylitis), wrist, hip, knee, or Achilles tendon. Pain worsens with use of the affected tendon and may persist for weeks to months. Initial management includes relative rest, ice, NSAIDs, and progressive eccentric loading exercises guided by physical therapy. Imaging is reserved for atypical presentations or suspected tears; corticosteroid injections offer short-term relief but are used selectively.
