Podiatrists are specialists in the medical and surgical care of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. Care includes orthotics, wound care, in-office procedures, and surgical reconstruction when needed. Regular podiatric foot exams reduce amputation risk in diabetes and are an essential component of preventive care.
