About Iron infusion order

Intravenous iron infusion delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gut. It is used when iron deficiency is severe, when oral iron is not tolerated or not absorbed (inflammatory bowel disease, bariatric surgery, celiac), or when faster repletion is needed (late pregnancy, before surgery, chronic kidney disease). Common formulations include iron sucrose, ferric carboxymaltose, and iron isomaltoside. Infusions are given in an outpatient infusion center under nursing supervision; the most common reactions are mild — headache, brief flushing, or transient hypophosphatemia.
