About Hematology / Oncology

Hematologists/oncologists diagnose and treat blood disorders and cancers — anemias, clotting and bleeding disorders, leukemias, lymphomas, myeloma, and solid tumors. Treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and radiation in coordination with multidisciplinary teams. They also manage long-term survivorship, monitor for recurrence, and coordinate genetic counseling when hereditary cancer syndromes are suspected. Many treatment plans are guided by molecular and genomic profiling of the tumor.
