About Chronic sinusitis

Chronic sinusitis is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses lasting more than twelve weeks, often with nasal obstruction, facial pressure, post-nasal drainage, and reduced sense of smell. It may be driven by allergy, anatomic obstruction, nasal polyps, biofilms, or fungal disease rather than a single bacterial infection. Evaluation may include nasal endoscopy and a CT of the sinuses. Treatment generally combines intranasal steroids, large-volume saline irrigation, treatment of underlying allergy, and selective antibiotic or surgical referral when conservative measures fail.
