About Restless legs syndrome

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurological condition characterized by an uncomfortable urge to move the legs, worse at rest and in the evening, that improves with movement. It often disrupts sleep and is associated with periodic limb movements at night. Iron deficiency (low ferritin) is a major reversible contributor; other risk factors include pregnancy, chronic kidney disease, and certain medications. First-line treatment is iron repletion when ferritin is low; non-pharmacologic measures and gabapentinoids or dopamine agonists are added for persistent symptoms.
