About H. pylori treatment visit
An H. pylori treatment visit selects an eradication regimen based on prior antibiotic exposure, allergies, and local resistance. Bismuth quadruple therapy (PPI + bismuth + tetracycline + metronidazole) for 14 days is increasingly first-line because of rising clarithromycin resistance. Confirmation of eradication with a urea breath test or stool antigen 4 or more weeks after completing therapy (and at least 2 weeks off PPI) is recommended for all treated patients. Failed eradication is treated with a different regimen guided by susceptibility when available.
