About ADHD

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition involving persistent inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that began in childhood and impair function across settings. Adults frequently present with disorganization, procrastination, time-management problems, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty sustaining attention to non-preferred tasks. Diagnosis requires structured history rather than a single test. Treatment combines behavioral strategies and coaching with stimulant medications (methylphenidate, amphetamine) or non-stimulants (atomoxetine, viloxazine) when appropriate, with monitoring for blood pressure, sleep, and appetite.
