Psychiatrists are physicians who diagnose and treat mental health conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. They prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, integrate psychotherapy and psychosocial treatments, and coordinate care for complex coexisting medical and psychiatric illness. Subspecialties include child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction, geriatric, and consultation-liaison psychiatry.
