About Allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis (“hay fever”) is an IgE-mediated reaction to inhaled allergens — pollen, dust mites, animal dander, mold — that inflames the nasal lining. It causes sneezing, congestion, itchy or watery eyes, runny nose, and post-nasal drip, often with seasonal patterns. Untreated, it can worsen asthma, disturb sleep, and reduce daytime functioning. Management combines allergen avoidance, intranasal corticosteroid sprays, second-generation oral antihistamines, and saline rinses; allergy testing and immunotherapy are options when symptoms persist despite standard therapy.
