About Sinus infection

Acute sinusitis is inflammation of the sinus lining that typically follows a viral upper respiratory infection. Symptoms include facial pressure, nasal congestion, discolored discharge, reduced sense of smell, and sometimes fever and dental pain. Most cases are viral and resolve within ten days with supportive care — saline irrigation, decongestants, analgesics, and rest. Bacterial sinusitis is suggested by symptoms that worsen after initial improvement or persist beyond ten days with high fever or severe pain, and may warrant a targeted antibiotic such as amoxicillin-clavulanate.
