About Eye infection (conjunctivitis)

Conjunctivitis (“pink eye”) is inflammation of the conjunctiva and may be viral, bacterial, or allergic. Viral conjunctivitis is the most common form, highly contagious, and typically presents with watery discharge and recent URI. Bacterial conjunctivitis produces purulent discharge and matted eyelids. Allergic conjunctivitis is itchy and bilateral. Most cases improve with supportive care; antibiotic drops are reserved for bacterial cases or when contact lens use raises infection risk. Eye pain, vision loss, photophobia, or contact-lens-related infection requires urgent ophthalmology evaluation.
