Cardiologists diagnose and manage diseases of the heart and blood vessels — coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, valvular disease, congenital heart disease in adults, hypertension that is difficult to control, and aortic disease. They use a wide range of diagnostic tools: EKG, echocardiogram, stress testing, cardiac CT, MRI, coronary angiography, and electrophysiology studies. Subspecialties include interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, and preventive cardiology.
