About Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is sweating that exceeds the body's thermoregulatory needs and interferes with daily life. It most commonly affects the underarms, palms, soles, or face and may be primary (focal, often hereditary, starting in childhood or adolescence) or secondary to medications, thyroid disease, menopause, or other systemic conditions. Treatment escalates from prescription-strength aluminum chloride and topical glycopyrronium to iontophoresis, botulinum toxin injections, and oral anticholinergics; microwave thermolysis and surgical sympathectomy are options for refractory cases.
