About COPD management visit

A COPD management visit confirms diagnosis (spirometry), classifies severity using GOLD criteria, reviews exacerbation history and symptom burden, and updates inhaler therapy. Most patients benefit from a long-acting bronchodilator (LABA or LAMA) with combinations for symptomatic disease and addition of an inhaled corticosteroid in patients with exacerbations or eosinophilic features. Smoking cessation is the single most effective intervention; pulmonary rehabilitation, vaccinations (influenza, pneumococcal, RSV, COVID, Tdap), and supplemental oxygen for documented hypoxemia round out comprehensive care.
