About Bronchitis visit

A bronchitis visit evaluates a productive cough following a viral illness, screens for pneumonia (high or persistent fever, low oxygen saturation, labored breathing, focal lung exam, mental status changes), and provides symptomatic care. Antibiotics are not routinely indicated because the cause is viral in most patients; bronchodilators may help when wheezing is present, and short courses of cough suppressants improve sleep. Patients with underlying lung disease, immunocompromise, or worsening symptoms warrant in-person evaluation and chest imaging.
