About Ureaplasma / Mycoplasma visit
A ureaplasma / mycoplasma visit evaluates patients with persistent urethritis, cervicitis, or pelvic symptoms in whom other causes have been excluded and NAAT is positive. Because Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma genitalium lack a cell wall, beta-lactam antibiotics are ineffective. Doxycycline is typically followed by azithromycin or moxifloxacin, with resistance-guided therapy preferred for M. genitalium given high macrolide resistance. Partner treatment is essential, and a test of cure at 3–4 weeks is recommended after treatment for M. genitalium.
