About Abdominal pain

Abdominal pain is a non-specific symptom with a wide differential — from benign gastroenteritis, constipation, gas, and menstrual cramps to serious causes such as appendicitis, gallstones, bowel obstruction, ectopic pregnancy, and ischemia. Evaluation focuses on location, character, radiation, timing, and associated symptoms (fever, vomiting, bleeding, urinary or pregnancy-related features). Red flags include severe or sudden pain, signs of peritonitis, hemodynamic instability, vomiting blood, black or bloody stools, or pain in pregnancy — all of which warrant prompt in-person evaluation rather than online care.
