About Stress / burnout

Stress is the body's response to demands that exceed its resources; burnout is the syndrome that follows prolonged, unmanaged occupational or caregiving stress and is marked by exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced sense of accomplishment. Physical features can include fatigue, headaches, GI symptoms, and sleep disturbance, while psychological features overlap with depression and anxiety. Recovery requires reducing chronic load — workload, sleep debt, caregiving demands — and rebuilding restorative routines around sleep, movement, social connection, and meaningful activity; therapy helps when symptoms persist.
