About STI screening

STI screening for sexually active adults typically includes HIV, syphilis (RPR), chlamydia and gonorrhea by NAAT (at all exposed anatomic sites), hepatitis B and C, and trichomonas in women. Screening frequency depends on number of partners, condom use, and population risk. Most chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV cases are asymptomatic — routine screening is the only reliable way to detect them early. Patients on PrEP are screened every three months. Vaccination for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and HPV is part of comprehensive sexual health.
