About Seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis causes greasy or flaky scaling with redness on the scalp, eyebrows, sides of the nose, behind the ears and on the chest. Dandruff is its mildest form. It is linked to skin yeast and tends to flare with stress, cold weather and illness; it is long-lasting but controllable. Treatment usually combines antifungal shampoos or creams, such as ketoconazole, with short courses of a mild anti-inflammatory product for flares. Similar-looking conditions include psoriasis, rosacea and contact dermatitis, so a clinician reviews where the rash appears and how it has responded to past treatment.
