About Acne treatment plan
An acne treatment plan matches therapy to acne type and severity. Mild comedonal acne usually responds to a topical retinoid plus benzoyl peroxide. Inflammatory acne adds a topical or oral antibiotic, used in courses limited to several months to reduce resistance. Hormonal patterns in women — chin and jawline acne, flares with the menstrual cycle — often benefit from combined oral contraceptives or spironolactone. Severe, scarring, or refractory acne is best managed with isotretinoin under specialist supervision. Most plans require 8–12 weeks for visible improvement and ongoing maintenance to prevent recurrence.
