Who we can evaluate
Adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition
Qsymia is FDA-approved for chronic weight management alongside diet and activity in adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol.
People who want an oral option instead of an injection
Qsymia is a once-daily capsule. No needles, no refrigeration, no weekly injection schedule.
People whose insurance won't cover a GLP-1
When a GLP-1 is denied or unaffordable, an oral option is often the practical next step rather than stopping treatment.
People already taking Qsymia who need continuity
If you're established on a dose and lost access to your prescriber, a clinician can review your response, blood pressure and tolerance and continue care.
Adolescents 12 and older, with a caregiver
Qsymia is also approved for chronic weight management in patients 12 and older with obesity. A caregiver takes part in the evaluation and the pharmacy ordering.

What's in Qsymia
Two medicines in one capsule, working on hunger and cravings from different directions. Your clinician chooses the strength and schedule — there's nothing to pick yourself.
Phentermine
An appetite suppressant that reduces hunger signals. It is a controlled medication, which is why a real clinical evaluation — not a questionnaire — decides whether it is appropriate.
Topiramate extended-release
Used at lower doses than in neurology, it reduces cravings and how rewarding food feels. The extended-release form smooths the effect across the day.
One capsule, four strengths
Treatment starts low and steps up only if it's working and well tolerated: 3.75/23, 7.5/46, 11.25/69 and 15/92 mg. Your clinician chooses the strength and the schedule.
Oral treatment instead of a weekly injection
GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy and Zepbound are weekly injections that need refrigeration and, often, prior authorization. Qsymia is a capsule you take each morning. Important safety information
Qsymia must not be used in pregnancy, and anyone who could become pregnant needs a negative pregnancy test before starting and monthly during treatment, plus reliable contraception. It isn't appropriate with glaucoma, an overactive thyroid, or an MAO inhibitor. Your clinician reviews your history, medicines and blood pressure before prescribing.
What you pay
- Ondoc: $100 self-pay for the clinical evaluation, or your commercial insurance where accepted.
- Medvantx: the medication cost, set and billed by Qsymia Engage Home Delivery Pharmacy and paid directly to the pharmacy.
The Ondoc fee pays for the clinical evaluation and is non-refundable. A paid evaluation does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued — that is the clinician's decision.
