Weight loss · GLP-1 prescribing
Wegovy & Zepbound on your insurance — not a cash subscription
A licensed provider reviews your eligibility, bills your plan when covered, and handles prior-authorization paperwork. If insurance won't cover it, we route you to LillyDirect or manufacturer savings — no subscription lock-in.
Ondoc vs the GLP-1 demand engine
Major subscription brands and pharma direct-pay programs spend heavily on ads but can't bill insurance. We're the prescribing layer they don't provide.
| Provider | Model | Insurance billed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ondoc | Insurance-first prescribing | Yes | Self-pay fallback if not covered. No subscription. |
| LillyDirect (Zepbound self-pay) | Self-pay direct-from-manufacturer | No | Cash-pay only. No insurance billing. You still need a licensed provider to write the prescription. |
| saveonwegovy.com | Manufacturer savings program | Limited | Coupon program tied to commercial insurance. Doesn't include a prescribing clinician — you bring your own. |
| Hims / Ro / Noom | Cash-pay subscription | No | Monthly subscription, branded compounded or brand-name GLP-1s. No insurance billing. Cancellation friction. |

Frequently asked
Will Ondoc bill my insurance for Wegovy or Zepbound?
Yes when your plan covers GLP-1s for weight management. We verify coverage and handle prior authorization paperwork. If your plan doesn't cover it, we'll tell you upfront and walk through self-pay alternatives like LillyDirect or manufacturer savings programs.
How is this different from Hims, Ro, or LillyDirect?
Those programs are cash-pay subscriptions or manufacturer direct-pay. Ondoc is insurance-first: a licensed provider reviews your case, bills your plan when possible, and only routes you to self-pay when insurance won't cover it. No monthly subscription lock-in.
Do I need a video visit?
Often no — for refills and established therapy, asynchronous review is enough. For new starts on a GLP-1, your prescriber may schedule a brief video visit to confirm BMI, comorbidities, and contraindications.
What if my insurance denies coverage?
Your prescriber files an appeal with clinical justification. If the denial holds, we'll route you to the manufacturer's self-pay program (LillyDirect for Zepbound, savings cards for Wegovy) so you don't lose continuity.
Are compounded GLP-1s an option?
We prescribe FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1s. Since the FDA shortage resolved, compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are no longer broadly permitted under 503A/503B. We don't route to compounding pharmacies for these drugs.
