How is this different from Hims, Ro, or LillyDirect?
Those programs are cash-pay subscriptions or manufacturer direct-pay. Ondoc is insurance-first: a licensed provider reviews your case, bills your plan when possible, and only routes you to self-pay when insurance won't cover it. No monthly subscription lock-in.
Do I need a video visit?
Often no — for refills and established therapy, asynchronous review is enough. For new starts on a GLP-1, your prescriber may schedule a brief video visit to confirm BMI, comorbidities, and contraindications.
What if my insurance denies coverage?
Your prescriber files an appeal with clinical justification. If the denial holds, we'll route you to the manufacturer's self-pay program (LillyDirect for Zepbound, savings cards for Wegovy) so you don't lose continuity.
Are compounded GLP-1s an option?
We prescribe FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1s. Since the FDA shortage resolved, compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are no longer broadly permitted under 503A/503B. We don't route to compounding pharmacies for these drugs.
