About Hemorrhoid treatment visit

A hemorrhoid visit reviews bleeding pattern, pain, and prolapse to distinguish internal from external hemorrhoids and to identify red flags (dark or melenic stool, weight loss, anemia, age over 45 with new bleeding) that warrant colonoscopy. First-line treatment is medical: high-fiber diet, hydration, stool softeners, sitz baths, and topical agents (witch hazel, hydrocortisone, lidocaine). Office-based procedures — rubber-band ligation, sclerotherapy, infrared coagulation — are highly effective for persistent internal hemorrhoids. Surgical hemorrhoidectomy is reserved for severe disease.
