GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1)
A gut hormone — and a drug class — used for diabetes and weight loss.
GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide) mimic a natural gut hormone that slows stomach emptying and improves insulin response. They lower A1C and produce significant weight loss; common side effects are nausea and constipation, especially during dose escalation.
