ESA documentation and college housing
Students who need an assistance animal in campus housing usually request an accommodation through the school's disability-services office, supported by documentation from a treating clinician. Ondoc provides the clinical evaluation behind that request.
ESA documentation evaluation — $100 self-pay
The $100 fee is for a clinical evaluation and documentation review. Payment does not guarantee that an ESA letter will be issued.
Ondoc issues ESA documentation only when the treating clinician determines that the applicable clinical and legal requirements are met.
Ondoc clinic policy requires an established clinical relationship and sufficient clinical information before ESA documentation is issued. Additional evaluation, treatment or follow-up may be required, and state law may impose additional requirements.
Ondoc ESA documentation is intended for housing accommodation requests. It does not make an animal a service animal, and it does not grant general public-access or airline rights.
What the evaluation covers
- $100 self-pay for the clinical evaluation, or commercial insurance where applicable
- Your school's disability-services office sets its own request process and timeline
- Ondoc clinic policy: documentation requires an established clinical relationship and sufficient clinical information — a one-time administrative request is not enough
- Intended for housing accommodation requests only — not a service-animal certification, and no ADA public-access or airline rights
Frequently asked
Does the $100 fee guarantee a letter?
No. The $100 fee pays for a clinical evaluation and documentation review. Ondoc issues ESA documentation only when the treating clinician determines that the applicable clinical and legal requirements are met, and additional evaluation, treatment or follow-up may be required first.
Will my school have to accept it?
That is the school's decision under the rules that apply to its housing. Ondoc cannot guarantee an accommodation outcome; we can only provide a clinical evaluation and, where supportable, documentation of the clinician's determination.
