About Sick child

Common childhood illnesses include viral upper respiratory infections, ear infections, sore throat, gastroenteritis, and fevers without a focal source. Most are self-limited and managed with hydration, rest, age-appropriate antipyretics, and time. Caregivers should watch for warning signs that warrant urgent care: trouble breathing, persistent high fever, dehydration, lethargy, neck stiffness, rash that does not blanch, or fever in an infant under 3 months. Antibiotics are reserved for confirmed bacterial infections, and most coughs and colds do not benefit from them.
