About Ophthalmology

Ophthalmologists are physicians and surgeons of the eye and visual system. They diagnose and treat refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, corneal disease, retinal disease, uveitis, and trauma. They perform cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), laser treatments for glaucoma and retinal disease, intravitreal injections, and complex vitreoretinal and oculoplastic procedures. Annual dilated eye exams are recommended for diabetes and other risk factors.
