General surgeons evaluate and operate on a wide range of abdominal, breast, soft-tissue, and endocrine conditions. Common operations include cholecystectomy for gallstones, hernia repair, appendectomy, soft-tissue mass excision, breast biopsy, colorectal procedures, and bariatric surgery. They also provide perioperative evaluation, manage wound and surgical-site complications, and coordinate care with oncology, gastroenterology, and other specialists when underlying disease requires multidisciplinary management.
