About Hashimoto's thyroiditis visit
A Hashimoto's thyroiditis visit interprets TPO antibody positivity in the context of TSH and free T4, determines whether overt or subclinical hypothyroidism is present, and reviews progression risk. Most patients with high antibodies and normal TSH need only periodic monitoring. Levothyroxine is initiated for overt hypothyroidism and considered case-by-case for subclinical disease in patients with symptoms, high antibody titers, infertility, or pregnancy plans. Selenium and dietary adjustments have limited evidence for changing disease course.
