The visit clarifies the time course, looks for risk factors (immunocompromise, chronic disease, pregnancy, exposures), screens for red flags requiring in-person care, and orders targeted testing such as influenza, COVID, strep, or urinalysis when results would change management. Treatment is matched to diagnosis and avoids unnecessary antibiotics.
