Does UHC cover birth control in Texas?

Ondoc accepts Medicare, self-pay, and major commercial insurance. Medicaid is not accepted.

Select UnitedHealthcare during discovery to see Ondoc's current payer status before patient details. Member-specific eligibility, active status, and benefits are verified by our insurance verification team.

Formulary & tier

ACA preventive coverage requires at least one option in every contraceptive category at $0 cost-share. Generic OCPs are always Tier 1.

UHC's PDL covers most generics at a low copay. We check OptumRx coverage when we review your refill.

Commonly prescribed: Junel · Sprintec · NuvaRing · Slynd
Prior authorization

UHC does not typically require PA for first-line combined oral contraceptives, progestin-only, rings, patches for birth control. Brand alternatives may require step therapy.

UHC requires PA for GLP-1s, controlled stimulants, and specialty drugs. Our clinician submits the PA to OptumRx.

Texas state mandate

Texas follows standard commercial-formulary rules for birth control. No state-specific mandate expands coverage beyond UHC's national formulary at this time. Federal ACA preventive-services rules still apply where relevant.
