ED treatment on your insurance — not a cash subscription
A licensed provider reviews your case and routes the lowest-cost option to your pharmacy — your insurance or the cheapest generic. No subscription, no upcharges.
Ondoc vs the ED subscription brands
DTC ED brands spend heavily on ads but can't bill insurance. We're the prescribing layer they don't provide.
| Provider | Model | Insurance billed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ondoc | Insurance-first prescribing | Yes | eRx to your pharmacy. No subscription. |
| Hims | Cash-pay subscription | No | Monthly subscription for sildenafil/tadalafil. No insurance billing. Cancellation friction. |
| Ro (Roman) | Cash-pay subscription | No | Subscription-only model. Doesn't run benefits or coordinate with your pharmacy. |

Frequently asked
Will Ondoc bill my insurance for sildenafil or tadalafil?
Yes when your plan covers it. Generic sildenafil and tadalafil are commonly covered. We verify benefits and route to the lowest-cost option — insurance or cash-pay generic, whichever is cheaper.
How is this different from Hims, Ro, or BlueChew?
Those are cash-pay subscriptions. Ondoc is insurance-first: a licensed provider reviews your case, writes an eRx to your pharmacy, and bills your plan when possible. No subscription.
Do I need a video visit?
Usually no. For straightforward ED requests, asynchronous review by a licensed provider is enough. Video is offered if your prescriber needs to clarify cardiovascular history or interactions.
Is generic sildenafil as good as Viagra?
Yes — same active ingredient, same FDA bioequivalence standard. Generic is what most patients receive even when 'Viagra' is prescribed.
Can I get this if I take nitrates or have heart disease?
Nitrates are a contraindication. A licensed provider reviews your cardiovascular history and medication list before writing the eRx. If PDE5 isn't safe, we'll tell you.
